Practitioners of Acupuncture Wellness Center

Acupuncture Wellness Center is dedicated to providing professional integrated health care to the community. Our executive acupuncturists earned undergraduate degrees in biology and then attended 4 year graduate school program in traditional Chinese medicine. Their medical education included extensive training in Chinese medical theory and diagnosis, acupuncture (with additional modalities such as cupping, moxibustion, and electro stimulation), herbal medicine, nutrition, western medical theory and diagnosis, as well as traditional Chinese massage (Tui Na) and Qi Gong. The clinical training took place in a busy outpatient setting under the supervision of doctors of both Chinese and Western medicine.

While all of our acupuncturists have been trained as general practitioners, each has their own unique specialty. You can click on the practitioners' names below to learn more about their training, practice and specialty.

Quang (Chris) Tran

Chris Tran is co-owner of Acupuncture Wellness Center. He is a Louisiana state licensed and nationally certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biological science at Louisiana State University and his master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (TOM) at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.

Chris is specialized in the treatment of acute and chronic pain and sports injury. Attending his four-year medical program, Chris received unique training in Channel Theory, Dr. Richard Tan's Balance Method, and Matthew Callison's Orthopedic Acupuncture. CHANNEL THEORY uses acupuncture points above and below an injury to stimulate rapid healing in injured tissues. BALANCE METHOD involves stimulating acupuncture points away from an injured area in order to avoid local pain and inflammation while encouraging muscle release through distal reflex connections. ORTHOPEDIC ACUPUNCTURE technique is a type of acupuncture which integrates Western musculoskeletal diagnosis with acupuncture needling of the affected muscles and joints for difficult cases. Combining channel theory, balance method, and orthopedic acupuncture technique with traditional Chinese acupuncture technique, Chris can successfully treat a wide array of pain conditions, including acute injury, industrial injury, sports injury or chronic pain.

He also uses PNF stretching and Egoscue method to alleviate pain and restore correct posture and balance to prevent injury. One of Chris's greatest assets is his ability to guide people to achieve true well-being by using lifestyle and dietary modifications. He is also skilled at facial rejuvenation.

Mina Tran

Mina Tran is co-owner of Acupuncture Wellness Center. She is a Louisiana state licensed and nationally certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Mina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biological science at Ewha Women's University in Seoul, Korea and her master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (TOM) at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.

Mina is the main herbalist of Acupuncture Wellness Center. She uses natural Chinese herbs to treat various internal conditions. She fully appreciates the wisdom of herbalism, which has established and tested over 3000 years by our ancestors. She believes that acupuncture and herbal medicines can support modern medicine in treating diseases and, most importantly, in preventing illness.

Mina has received unique training in Korea called electrolipolysis. Popular in Korea and Europe, electrolipolysis involves inserting fine acupuncture needles into the fat tissue layer and running a weak electric current through the area to reduce localized body fat (especially from the thighs, buttocks, hips, and abdomen) and improve the quality and appearance of the skin. In our weight control program, Mina will provide this unique technique as well as auricular acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary and lifestyle modifications to control appetite and restore balance.
